Job Description
AHRC New York City is seeking a Manager for their Internship program.
Salary: $75,000-$85,000 per year plus a comprehensive Benefit package. See Benefit package information below.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee all administrative aspects of recruiting, hiring and onboarding social work and other clinical and administrative interns for placement at the agency, including:
Managing the recruitment process by reviewing intern resumes and interviewing applicants to identify qualified clinical interns for the agency’s programs.
Maintaining contact with existing educational institutions that serve as the agency’s pipeline for providing intern candidates, including completion of contracts that may be required by same institutions.
Identifying new contacts to serve as pipeline for intern candidates, particularly in the areas of social work and mental health counseling.
Consult with department heads to determine ongoing internship needs and to assure that programs offer appropriate learning opportunities for interns that are placed and that people supported receive appropriate social work services.
In collaboration with the HR Department, complete all applicable on-boarding processes for interns accepted to AHRC programs.
Provide or ensure provision of mandated training to all interns (including OSHA, Positive Approaches, HIPPA, and Agency/Department Policies and Procedures instruction).
Provide specialized training to seasonal camp staff, as requested.
Ensure appropriate supervision of interns, in accordance to requirements of their educational institutions. Must participate in providing direct supervision for interns and coordinating other relevant staff to provide supervision to interns as needed.
Provide guidance to AHRC supervisors and program directors overseeing internship activities, and ensure that foundational responsibilities of being a social worker (or other clinical role) are addressed, such as:
Working with program staff in evaluation and treatment of person to further understanding of significant emotional and social factors underlying person’s adjustment difficulties.
Helping person and family, through individual, group, and/or family therapy, to formulate and carry out all elements of person’s individualized service plan.
Providing services planned to restore person to optimum social and health adjustment within his/her capacity.
Utilizing community resources to assist person to resume life in community or to learn to live within limits of disability.
Conduct other tasks, as necessary.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a LMSW or LCSW and certified to provide supervision of interns meeting the requirements of educational institutions (SIFI), with strong knowledge of college/university field work operations required.
Strong interpersonal and writing skills, as well as ability to conduct effective training presentations to staff and other key stakeholders, as necessary.
Proven ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with a wide range of internal stakeholders (including line staff, managers, department heads) and external resources (including college administrators and placement personnel).
Must exhibit excellent organizational and coordination skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while exercising independent judgment and problem-solving abilities.
Work experience with people with developmental disabilities highly desirable.
Existing expertise in Word/Sign or capacity to learn and become a trainer in Word/Sign required.
Demonstrable passion for the agency’s mission.
