Associate Production Editor

Job Summary

A company is looking for an Associate Production Editor to support the Penguin Young Readers division.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare manuscripts for design by styling text in Microsoft Word according to house guidelines
• Copyedit manuscripts and review first-pass pages, incorporating changes and corrections
• Review and fact-check sketches and final artwork for consistency and accuracy

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of copyediting/proofreading/fact-checking experience; book publishing experience is a plus
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat Pro, including Track Changes
• Familiarity with Merriam-Webster and Chicago Manual of Style
• Understanding of inclusive language issues
• Familiarity with children's books for all age groups is a plus
