Pay Rate: $15.97 per hour

Requirements: Must be enrolled at Augsburg, and must have work-study as part of financial aid package.

Job Description

The Music department is seeking to hire one student employee to serve as a student assistant and orchestra manager.

Duration: Academic Year 2025-26, from September-April, approximately 3-5 hours/week. May include some training hours in April 2023 with the existing student manager.

Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Fine Arts Coordinator and administrative assistant with coordination and management of the orchestra ensemble, orchestra performances, and other departmental concerts and events.
  • Act as main student manager for the Advent Vespers Orchestra, coordinating with faculty, staff, and students as needed.
  • Function as music librarian for the orchestra.
  • Perform general office duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must have successfully completed--and have registered for--MUE 121 (Orchestra). This helps to establish qualifications to function effectively as music librarian and orchestra manager.
  • Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at Augsburg University for the academic year 2025-26.

  • Must be able to read music to be able to perform duties as music librarian/orchestra manager.
  • Be familiar with rehearsal and performance logistics of orchestra ensembles.
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills.
  • Good communication skills: in-person, phone, written.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Able to work with little to no supervision, initiative to take on projects and problem solve.
