Role Description 

Capitolis is seeking a highly analytical, business-minded intern with a strong interest in financial services, data analysis, and strategic thinking. This internship is ideal for a recent graduate who is eager to apply their skills to real-world challenges at the intersection of data, business, and client needs. You'll work closely with our VP, Head of Portfolio Optimization, and gain hands-on experience turning complex, ambiguous questions into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and help execute analyses to investigate business problems, identify drivers, and uncover actionable insights
  • Assist in building forecast models for business performance and track progress against performance
  • Review product usage and benefit metrics to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Communicate and collaborate with multi-functional teams and stakeholders to drive alignment and operational efficiency
  • Help maintain and build tools, queries, or dashboards to automate and scale common analysis workflows
  • Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and shifting demands

 Requirements

  • Recently completed a degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills — comfortable working through ambiguity to find structure and insight
  • Willingness to learn how to translate business questions into data queries and assist in interpreting results alongside the team
  • Some experience with Python and SQL; willingness to learn is essential
  • Exceptional attention to detail paired with the ability to move quickly and make sound judgment calls under pressure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability using data to tell a story
  • Exposure working with client-facing teams or directly with clients to deliver data insights or reports preferred
  • Familiarity with financial products, transaction data, or trading systems preferred
  • Exposure to dashboarding or data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) preferred
  • Ability to work 5 days a week in New York City office
