Job Summary
A company is looking for a Coder I to assign codes to diagnoses and procedures remotely.
Key Responsibilities
- Assign codes to diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4
- Research medical necessity needs as required
- Maintain knowledge of Medicare Local Medical Review Policy (LMRPs)
Required Qualifications, Training, and Education
- High School Diploma or GED with coursework in Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, or related fields
- Less than one year of outpatient coding experience
- Preferred Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management/Medical Record Administration
- Preferred three to five years of coding experience in a large acute care teaching facility
- Preferred certifications such as CCA or CPC, or RHIT/RHIA
