The first KIPP New Jersey school opened in Newark in 2002 and since then our school network has expanded to educate 8,684 students in grades K-12. Job Description

Here's what you should know:

The Newark Student Recruitment & Outreach Manager is responsible for leading the execution of KIPP Newark’s student recruitment strategy, overseeing outreach initiatives, and driving enrollment through strategic project planning, stakeholder coordination, and team management. This position plays a key leadership role in building strong community partnerships, managing recruitment systems and data, and ensuring enrollment goals are met. The ideal candidate brings a strategic mindset, strong project management skills, and experience managing teams or large initiatives to drive measurable results.

Here's what you'll be doing:

Create, develop and manage student recruitment community outreach plans and priorities

  • Owns the design and execution of annual student recruitment outreach project plans in partnership with the Newark Director of Student Recruitment
  • Leads end to end project management of outreach campaigns and initiatives, including timelines, coordination, deliverables, progress monitoring, and post-project analyses
  • Monitors recruitment data to adjust tactics and project accordingly to met recruitment goals 
  • Leads the development and execution of comprehensive community outreach strategies to increase awareness and visibility of KIPP Newark.

Executes student recruitment strategy

  • Fields incoming calls, emails, texts to answer any questions prospective families might have about KIPP Newark 
  • Fields recruitment related inquiries from School Leaders and Operations teammates
  • Nurtures applicants immediately after applying by calling or texting them to serve as their enrollment point of contact
  • Drops off collateral and relevant marketing materials to businesses, daycare partners, apartment complex, nonprofits, etc.to build awareness of our academic offerings
  • Effectively pitches KIPP Newark as a school option to prospective families in the field with the intention of meeting the application goal set for the intended recruitment activity

Data & System Management

  • Progress monitors weekly lead acquisition and application conversion and makes pivots as needed to exceed weekly goals
  • Reaches out to assigned leads and documents outreach on a daily basis using our CRM system
  • Creates internal systems and manages projects to completion 
  • Tracks and runs analyses as need to present ROI on outreach plans 

Team & Volunteer Management

  • Plans and manages canvassing and field strategy, including creating a project plan, training managing temporary and volunteer teams,  adjusting strategy and teams as needed to drive results
  • Mobilizes current KIPP Newark families and creates a Parent Ambassador program to support student recruitment activities
  • Plans and manages Parent Ambassador & volunteer team time, holding check-ins and group meetings 
  • Trains volunteers & temporary employees to execute recruitment activities which may include: phone banking, canvassing, tabling, and participating in community events
  • Trains and manages team to project and data tracking; analyzes results to adjust strategy in concert with the Director of Student Recruitment

Qualifications

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A connection to the Newark community
  • Experience in developing project plans, tracking data, and managing systems to execute recruitment initiatives and meet goals

SKILLS

  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to lead initiatives from concept to execution.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel,PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Google applications (Sheets, Docs,Google Drive), with the ability to quickly learn new technologies( Slack, HubSpot, etc.)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively pitch KIPP Newark to prospective families.
  • Proficiency in public speaking and persuasion to engage families and community partners.
  • Relationship-building skills to establish and maintain partnerships with city-wide organizations, businesses, and nonprofits.

ABILITIES

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel to school locations to meet with staff
  • Ability to work independently and proactively solve problems.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands:

  • Must have reliable transportation to travel between campuses and to and from community events / meetings
  • Requires evening and weekend work for community events, canvassing, and other outreach activities.

Additional Information

The salary range for this role is $80,000 - $90,000.
