Mainframe Software Engineer

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Software Engineer III - Mainframe.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and research legacy mainframe applications and data structures (primarily VSAM)
• Design, develop, and execute COBOL and JCL batch jobs to extract and prepare data for migration
• Collaborate with ETL and SQL Server development teams to normalize and transfer data into vendor-hosted applications

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in mainframe software development
• Strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, IBM z/OS, TSO/ISPF, and VSAM
• Experience creating extract jobs for data migration initiatives
• Demonstrated ability to reverse-engineer legacy systems with minimal documentation
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and participation in sprint-based delivery
