Job Summary
A company is looking for a Remote Inpatient Coder.
Key Responsibilities
- Extracts, reviews, and analyzes clinical information to assign appropriate ICD-10 codes for billing and compliance
- Reviews medical records to ensure accurate assignment of MS-DRG or APR-DRG codes
- Collaborates with Clinical Documentation Specialists to improve documentation accuracy for coding compliance
Required Qualifications, Training, and Education
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Management Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
- Minimum one (1) year of recent facility coding experience; three (3) years for per diem candidates
- High School Diploma/GED; Associate Degree in Health Information Technology/Management preferred
- Must pass departmental testing for typing, analytical skills, and coding accuracy
- Experience in a major academic medical center and familiarity with ICD-10-CM/PCS preferred
