Principal Backend Engineer

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Principal Backend Engineer, Experimentation Platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the API platform architecture for user data, ensuring scalability, security, and extensibility
• Lead the design of public and internal API contracts, including governance standards
• Architect API gateways and service meshes for unified access to distributed systems while maintaining performance and reliability

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience focused on scalable APIs and distributed backend systems
• 3+ years of experience leading platform or API architecture in cloud environments
• Expertise in REST, GraphQL, gRPC, and API versioning and authentication
• Strong proficiency in at least one backend language (Java, Go, Python, Scala)
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines
