Please note: This position is not remote if training is needed. On-site training for the first year is required.
PLEASE NOTE: this is a remote position for EXPERIENCED candidates only. However due to our pay practices, qualified candidates MUST reside within one of the following states: AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, KY, ME, MI, NC, NM, NV, OK, OR, TN, TX, UT, WA, VA. While candidates need to live or relocate to one of the aforementioned states, working remotely will require reliable broadband internet and personal cell phone service. Remote work may include working day-to-day operations during Pacific Standard business hours or online training.
Position Summary
The Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Coding Specialist is responsible for performing prospective and retrospective chart reviews for Asante Physician Partners (APP) and Asante Health Network (AHN) providers. This includes review of the quality of medical record and billing documentation relating to inpatient and outpatient professional fee charges, E/M charging, and CPT procedure coding. Based upon findings, the CDI Coding Specialist collaborates with the CDI RN specialist to ensure accurate diagnosis and procedural coding submitted to payers. Additional duties include serving as a resource to all personnel involved in any aspect of coding to obtain information or clarification on accurate and ethical coding documentation standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Education
• Associates degree or equivalent education and experience may be considered
• One of the following certifications or eligibility to obtain certification within 90 days of hire/transfer:
• CCS: Certified Coding Specialist
• CCS-P: Certified Coding Specialist, Physician-based
• CPC: Certified Professional Coder
• CCR: Certified Risk Adjustment Coder
Experience
• Minimum 3 years of coding experience or clinical experience in a healthcare setting that provided exposure to CPT/HCPCS coding, ICD-10 diagnosis coding, and other coding related regulatory standards requirements is required
• Must be highly competent in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and Outlook
Preferred Licensure/Certifications
• CCDS: Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist
• CCDS-O: Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist-Outpatient
• Clinical Licensure or Certification (i.e. CMA, CNA, LPN, PTA, EMT/paramedic)
