Book Production Editor

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Book Production Editor, Graphic Novels/Manga.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle production editorial work for original titles from manuscript to bound book/ePub and manage hardcover-to-paperback conversions across various genres
• Hire freelance copy editors, proofreaders, and indexers, reviewing their work and collating changes from authors and freelancers
• Perform quality checks on ebook files and collaborate with production, design, and editorial departments to maintain book schedules

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years' experience as a trade-book production editor
• Familiarity with The Chicago Manual of Style and proficiency in modern copyediting style
• Expertise in electronic copyediting using Microsoft Word and experience with Adobe Acrobat PDF markup tools
• Ability to manage diverse responsibilities efficiently and meet deadlines
• Preferably experience working on 4-color books
