Position Overview
The Instructional Support Associate for Virtual Learning will work collaboratively and jointly with the classroom teacher, Academic Dean, Assistant Principal of Instruction, and Assistant Principal of Culture and Climate. This position plays a key role in supporting the development, implementation, and management of online educational programs. This position requires strong communication, organizational, and technical skills to assist both learners and instructors in creating a seamless virtual learning experience. This role works with classroom teachers to support student learning. The Instructional Support Associate for Virtual Learning role will be to maintain discipline among students in a courteous but firm manner.
Requirements
Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Ensures that all virtual learning content is properly uploaded, organized, and accessible to students.
• Serves as a liaison between the school and external partners/programs (i.e. Virtual Learning Hub).
• Provides ongoing support to instructors and students with platform navigation, troubleshooting technical issues, and answering inquiries.
• Monitors student progress, participation, and performance in virtual learning environments.
• Engage with students via email, chat, or virtual office hours to answer questions and provide academic support.
• Encourage a collaborative learning environment by facilitating group discussions, forums, or virtual study sessions.
• Assist in maintaining records of student participation, attendance, and performance.
• Track and report on student progress, assignment submissions, and overall course completion.
• Assists the teacher by monitoring and supporting instructional and/or other classroom-based activities for students as prompted by an in-person or virtual teacher.
• Serves as an Instructional Support (substitute teacher) for up to an entire day of instruction or at a minimum a class period, or may serve as a long-term substitute.
• Assist classrooms by maintaining order and discipline.
• Monitors students in academic and non-academic classrooms and settings.
• Monitors students throughout the school day, including in the classroom, hallways, during lunch, outside school events.
• Provides crisis prevention and intervention where appropriate.
• Maintains a controlled environment for students and staff in the school building and campus.
• Assist with the implementation of behavior management techniques (verbal) used with individuals with special needs.
• Participates in various meetings for the purpose of sharing information regarding student progress and opportunities.
• Supports all other duties as assigned.

• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Work independently, meet deadlines, and accomplish specific tasks as requested.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with instructional and administrative staff.
• Ability to intervene and resolve elevated student conflicts, school-wide disruptions, and/or crisis.
• Maintain confidentiality surrounding sensitive student information.
• Establish and maintain professional and supportive relationships with students with the objective of supporting their educational goals.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in education, or a subject-related field, or another degree with a heavy focus on content (required), Master’s Degree (highly desired).
• 3 or more years of teaching or classroom-based teaching experience.
• Experience in school-based behavior management and or crisis intervention.
