Job Summary
A company is looking for a Mainframe Engineer to support a major modernization effort focused on decoupling a large-scale legacy DB2 database and refactoring associated COBOL programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the decoupling of legacy DB2 databases and refactor COBOL programs to enhance functionality
- Transition data access patterns to new architectural components while maintaining business-critical operations
- Collaborate with internal teams for onboarding and ongoing support throughout the modernization project
Required Qualifications
- Strong command of COBOL programming, including reading, modifying, and testing
- Experience with JCL for job execution and batch processing in mainframe environments
- Familiarity with IBM MQ for message queue integration
- Deep understanding of DB2 access methods on mainframes
- Experience with API specifications and data mapping to source/target structures
