Staff Observability Engineer

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Staff Observability Engineer to build self-service observability tooling and templates for engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop self-service observability tools and templates to enhance engineering productivity
• Lead post-incident reviews and establish operational excellence patterns
• Mentor team members while improving system reliability and performance

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, particularly in scaling observability systems in a SaaS environment
• Experience designing and operating monitoring, logging, and tracing solutions
• Strong foundation in distributed tracing, service instrumentation, and alerting automation
• Familiarity with tools such as SumoLogic, Datadog, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry
• Ability to work independently while mentoring others and driving system resilience
