The opportunity
We’re looking for a seasoned, entrepreneurial Director of Advisor Transitions to lead our efforts in empowering financial advisors to achieve independence. This is a high-impact, client-facing leadership role that blends sales, business consulting, and strategic partnership.
The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of the RIA formation journey – particularly with the operational, legal, and compliance aspects of setting up and running RIAs. With a passion for guiding advisors through the transition to independence, you’ll act as both a strategic advisor and trusted partner – sourcing prospects, consulting on their breakaway path, and ensuring a successful transition process from start to finish.
Your impact

- Drive the acquisition of institutional advisors exploring independence, positioning Altruist as the premier custodial partner for their new RIA firm.
- Develop a go-to-market strategy specifically targeting breakaway opportunities, aligned with company-wide growth goals
- Prospect & Source:
- Identify, engage, and build relationships with financial advisors at banks, wirehouses, and broker-dealers who are ideal candidates for independence
- Leverage personal network, strategic outreach, and referral channels to build a robust pipeline of high-potential breakaway prospects
- Advisor Education and Consultation:
- Engage with advisors exploring independence to understand their goals, concerns, and challenges.
- Educate advisors on the benefits of transitioning to an RIA model and leveraging Altruist’s platform, including a focus early on whether the advisor is ready and wants to be a business owner. Can include guiding the advisor to another RIA that works with Altruist.
- Transition Strategy Development:
- Develop tailored transition strategies for advisors leaving wirehouses or large firms.
- Outline clear, actionable roadmaps for setting up independent RIAs, including compliance, technology, and operational considerations.
- Partnerships and Business Development:
- Develop key strategic partnerships to unlock incremental advisor opportunities
- Structure business model agreements with key partners to drive growth
- RIA Setup and Compliance Support:
- Provide hands-on assistance in the registration and setup of new RIAs, ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements.
- Partner with legal and compliance experts to address complex scenarios.
- Operational and Technology Implementation:
- Guide advisors in adopting Altruist’s platform, emphasizing its capabilities to streamline operations and enhance client service.
- Recommend complementary tools and integrations to build a fully functional and efficient RIA.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Serve as a trusted and confidential advisor throughout the transition process, maintaining close communication to address questions and concerns.
- Foster long-term relationships with advisors post-launch, ensuring ongoing satisfaction and success.
- Industry Leadership and Advocacy:
- Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and competitive offerings to provide forward-thinking advice.
- Represent Altruist at industry events, webinars, and other forums to promote the company’s mission and attract top-tier advisors.
