Wizards of the Coast seeks a Data Product Manager to develop and help build engaging experiences for the successful Magic: The Gathering Arena game. This role can be fully remote or on-site at our Renton, WA office.


As a Data Product Manager, you will contribute the right mix of data evaluation, passion for Magic: The Gathering, and experience using and sharing data to help the team build exciting new content for our players. You will thrive in a team environment where we reward collaboration, mutual respect, and direct and open communication.


You will engage in an ongoing dialogue with leadership to ask and answer questions vital to the team and product's success. Your passion for data analysis will enable partnering with the Game Director and Design leadership to advise on and define key goals and performance indicators. By evaluating crucial player data and continually iterating towards new data-informed findings, you will play a major role in crafting the quality of play experiences. Working with teams across the company to standardize methodologies. This position is the steward of keeping Arena healthy, balanced, and growing.


What You'll Do:


  • Build content and/or measure online free-to-play games: seasonal content, feature development, and content plan design.
  • Reinforce monetization, engagement, and retention strategies.
  • Preprocess structured and unstructured data.
  • Conceptualize content programs within leadership goals and timelines.
  • Analyze large data sets to identify weaknesses, and opportunities, and propose recommendations to improve the success of the product.
  • Watch daily product performance, evaluate success, and communicate results to key partners.


What You'll Bring:


The successful candidate has a strong mix of investigative, communication, and technical experience from the live services gaming space.

  • 2+ years of applicable professional experience.
  • Passion and experience with Magic: The Gathering.
  • Experience defining product and feature requirements as well as the corresponding performance indicators.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Tableau, or other data-reporting software.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and desire to work in a diverse team.
  • Ability to elegantly incorporate data into day-to-day decisions.
  • Organized and diligent about the features you own.


Nice to Have:


  • Exposure to Magic: The Gathering as a player – you grok the nuances of the paper product and the digital world.
  • Experience evaluating game systems for digital games.
  • Strong modeling skills and authority with Excel.
  • Strong ability to think through and communicate sophisticated concepts verbally and in writing.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, uncertainty, and navigating shifting requirements.
  • Passionate about card games. Actively plays comparable products to understand the market.

Compensation Range

$89,360—$150,600 USD
