About the position
Responsibilities
• Develop and execute a strategic vision for museum operations, exhibitions, and public programs.
• Provide leadership and guidance to staff and volunteers to ensure the museum’s success.
• Oversee the development and curation of exhibitions celebrating LGBTQ+ history and culture.
• Manage the implementation of public programs and educational initiatives.
• Write grant proposals and manage funding contracts for museum programs.
• Cultivate relationships with donors and sponsors to support museum initiatives.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the museum, ensuring a welcoming environment for visitors.
• Identify and lead museum expansion and maintenance projects.
Requirements
• Master’s degree in Museum Studies, Arts Administration, Art History, Public History, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in museum management or similar cultural/non-profit organization.
• Proven track record in successful fundraising and grant writing.
• Experience working with LGBTQ+ and diverse communities is required.
• Commitment to advancing justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
• Proficiency in budget management with at least three years of experience.
• Excellent leadership and team-building skills.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience with museum collections management software and ticketing software.
• Knowledge of LGBTQ+ history and culture.
