Editor for Genre Fiction

Job Summary

A company is looking for an Editor to acquire and develop titles in science fiction, fantasy, and horror.

Key Responsibilities

• Solicit and evaluate potential acquisitions with a clear publication vision
• Collaborate with authors and agents on manuscript development and shepherd books through the publication process
• Serve as the primary project manager and advocate for each book, ensuring deadlines are met

Required Qualifications

• At least 5 years of editorial experience with a focus on project acquisition
• A proven network of relationships with literary agents
• A passion for and knowledge of science fiction, fantasy, horror, and their communities
• Experience in guiding manuscripts from acquisition to publication
• Strong understanding of storytelling and collaboration with authors on multiple drafts
