External Communications Director

Job Summary

A company is looking for an External Communications Director to lead its external communications strategy and media engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive external communications strategy in partnership with senior leadership
• Manage all press operations, including media requests and organizational statements, while serving as the primary spokesperson
• Lead crisis communication protocols and coordinate rapid response efforts for breaking news and organizational challenges

Required Qualifications

• 8-10 years of communications, press, or media relations experience, particularly in Democratic election cycles
• Proven success in leading high-stakes communications initiatives, including crisis and reputation management
• Experience as an organizational spokesperson with a strong understanding of the political media ecosystem
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute organization-wide communications strategies
• Strong knowledge of digital fundraising and political technology is a plus
