About Us:
Lark Industries is a forefront aerospace and defense manufacturer based in El Paso, TX. We specialize in high‑precision, multi‑axis CNC‑machined components vital to cutting‑edge aerospace applications. Our advanced CNC facility also serves as a hands‑on training center, where we empower small manufacturers and individual trainees with real‑world programming and machining skills.
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to develop and optimize multi‑axis machining programs (minimum 5‑axis) and to deliver immersive training to small aerospace manufacturers and individual participants at our CNC facility. You will translate engineering drawings into efficient toolpaths, validate programs through simulation and first‑part approval, and coach trainees on best‑practice programming and setup techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, configure, and optimize 5‑axis (and above) CNC programs using CAM software (e.g., Bobcam, Mastercam, Fusion 360) for aerospace‑grade components.
- Perform program verification through simulation and dry‑run checks; conduct first‑article inspections to validate toolpaths.
- Troubleshoot and fine‑tune programs on the shop floor, collaborating with machinists and quality personnel to ensure part conformity.
- Develop and lead structured, hands‑on training modules covering:
- Multi‑axis toolpath strategies and feature machining
- Fixture design, workholding, and setup best practices
- Post‑processor configuration and G‑code fundamentals
- Machining cycle optimization and cycle time reduction techniques
- Mentor trainees on interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and translating design intent into machining solutions.
- Create clear programming documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and training aids.
- Track training progress, assess competency through practical evaluations, and provide actionable feedback.
- Ensure all programming and training activities adhere to safety protocols and customer specifications.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Machining Technology, or related field (preferred).
- 3+ years of hands‑on CNC programming experience, with at least 2 years on 5‑axis machines in an aerospace or defense environment.
- Proficiency with major CAM platforms (Bobcam, Mastercam, Fusion 360, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling selection, speeds & feeds, and cycle optimization.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Exceptional communication and instructional skills, with proven experience teaching or mentoring others.
- Detail‑oriented mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
