Mainframe Engineer

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Mainframe Engineer to support a major modernization effort focused on decoupling a legacy DB2 database and refactoring associated COBOL programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Decouple a large-scale legacy DB2 database and refactor COBOL programs
• Transition to new data sources while maintaining business-critical functionality
• Modernize COBOL programs to retrieve and process data from various new architectures

Required Qualifications

• Strong command of COBOL programming, including reading, modifying, and testing
• Experience with JCL in mainframe environments for job execution and batch processing
• Familiarity with IBM MQ for message queue integration
• Deep understanding of DB2 access methods on mainframes
• Experience with API specifications and data mapping to source/target structures
