Medical Coding Specialist

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Coding Specialist II, responsible for interpreting medical record data and processing physician and facility charges.

Key Responsibilities

• Performs analysis on medical record documentation to determine appropriate coding
• Abstracts and enters codes and demographic information into the computer system
• Assists in resolving incomplete chart documentation to expedite billing processes

Required Qualifications

• High School education plus medical coding certification
• Three years of medical abstraction and coding experience or related work experience
• Knowledge of ICD-CM and CPT coding systems and federal/state guidelines
• Intermediate level computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
• Training in medical terminology from an accredited program is preferred
