Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to support the Benefits Discovery Service within the VA's RISE portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services in Java with containerized deployments
• Implement and optimize RESTful APIs for integration with VA.gov and other systems
• Lead troubleshooting and incident resolution in production environments while mentoring junior engineers

Required Qualifications

• Ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in cloud-native environments
• Strong expertise in Java, Javalin, Maven, and Docker/Kubernetes
• Proven experience deploying and monitoring applications in AWS cloud
• Familiarity with VA security, compliance, and deployment pipelines
