Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs in modernizing the digital disability benefits experience on VA.gov.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend systems primarily using Ruby on Rails
• Lead technical design sessions and ensure seamless integration with VA services
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in agile sprints for feature delivery

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a senior role
• Proficiency in Ruby on Rails for backend development
• Experience with containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes in AWS
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and data modeling
• Commitment to accessibility and security compliance standards
