Located in Baltimore’s cultural center near the historic Mount Vernon neighborhood, UMMC Midtown Campus is a 180-bed, community teaching hospital with a focus on helping people manage chronic diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, pulmonary conditions, and infectious diseases.

Job Description

  1. Understands and follows policies and protocols while helping other staff utilize these resources effectively. Performs and assists others in the completion of: core measures, unit based/annual competencies, regulatory requirements, quality measures, service excellence, and education.
  2. Functions as charge nurse and/or preceptor. Resolves issues at the unit level, in collaboration with nurse manager or supervisor, as appropriate.
  3. Assist others to perform assessments and reassessments, as appropriate for the patient’s needs, collecting data from all sources to assist with formulating a nursing diagnosis.
  4. Develops an individualized Plan of Care, based on the patient’s assessment, with mutual, realistic and measurable goals and documents this thoroughly in the patient’s record.
  5. Coordinates and directs available resources and personnel in developing and following the Plan of Care.

Qualifications

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing, is required.
  • As of December 1, 2021, BSN or Conferred BSN degree required.
  • 3-5 years of ICU Nursing experience required
  • Current BLS/CPR certification required.
  • ACLS Provider completion at date of hire of employment in the following departments: ICU/IMC, and Emergency Department. 
  • PALS Completion within the initial 3 months of hire in the following departments: ICU/IMC, PACU and Emergency Department.
  • Relevant clinical work experience related to practice in ICU or the Emergency Department.
  • Maintenance of 20 contact hours of education every two years.
  • Professional Organization membership is preferred.
  • Competent with titrating drip.
  • Ultrasound-guided IV trained

Pay Range: $36.5-$55.55
