Job Summary
A company is looking for a Documentation Quality and Appeals Specialist.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform record reviews to ensure complete and accurate clinical documentation reflecting appropriate Severity of Illness and Risk of Mortality
- Understand legal and compliance issues related to clinical documentation and present findings to clinical and end users
- Participate in educational coding sessions and maintain clinical CEUs as applicable
Required Qualifications, Training, and Education
- Minimum one year of experience as a CDI Reviewer in an acute care setting
- Minimum of five years of clinical experience in an acute care setting
- Working knowledge of DRGs and clinical conditions impacting quality outcomes
- Bachelor's Degree required
- CCDS or CDIP certification preferred; CCS or concurrent enrollment in an AHIMA-approved coding program within 90 days of hire preferred
