About the position
Responsibilities
• Perform real-time and batch pharmacy claim adjudication across multiple payers.
• Conduct detailed eligibility verification checks using insurance portals or third-party tools.
• Review rejected claims and take corrective action to resolve billing errors.
• Maintain accurate, complete documentation in the pharmacy system.
• Communicate electronically via Microsoft Teams and Outlook with internal teams (pharmacists, technicians, billing) to resolve billing issues.
• Prioritize claims based on urgency and turnaround time requirements.
• Escalate systemic billing or coverage issues as appropriate.
• Work independently in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
Requirements
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certified with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Health Association (NHA) and maintain a current certificate.
• Must maintain a pharmacy technician registration with the State Board of Pharmacy in the state they reside in.
• Prior pharmacy billing experience required.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Ability to perform in an office-based (or remote) setting that requires sitting at a desk 90% of the time.
• Must have reliable high-speed internet and a quiet, dedicated private and distraction-free workspace for adherence to HIPAA.
• Must be able to work a 7 on/7 off schedule of, Monday through Friday, 6:30 PM – 5:00 AM ET Saturday & Sunday, 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM ET.
Nice-to-haves
• Familiarity with pharmacy billing systems such as Rx30.
• Understanding of Medicare Part D, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing.
