California Licensed Product Counsel

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Product Counsel to join their Legal team.

Key Responsibilities

• Guide and advise cross-functional teams throughout the product development lifecycle, focusing on payroll and employee-related products
• Provide practical legal advice on product, regulatory compliance, consumer protection, and contracts
• Stay updated on laws and regulations affecting the Payroll & Team Management platform and ensure compliance across marketing and customer content

Required Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school with active state bar membership
• 5+ years of legal experience, preferably in-house with a payroll or HR service provider or similar technology/FinTech company
• Deep expertise in product, regulatory compliance, privacy, marketing, and consumer protection laws
• Proven experience advising product teams and managing complex customer terms and conditions negotiations
• Knowledge of multi-state employment laws, particularly regarding wage and hour and payroll
