North Carolina HEDIS Coding Specialist

Job Summary

A company is looking for a HEDIS Coding Specialist (Remote Option-NC).

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough reviews of medical records for accurate coding and documentation compliance
• Identify opportunities for documentation improvement and provide education to healthcare providers on coding practices
• Perform audits and data analysis to assess coding accuracy and support quality improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications, Training, and Education

• Bachelor's degree in health information management, Health Information Technology, Medical Coding, Nursing, or a related healthcare field; or an Associate's degree with a minimum of 3 years of medical coding experience
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in medical coding and documentation
• Minimum 1 year of experience with HEDIS measures and reporting
• Current certification from AHIMA or AAPC; HEDIS certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
• Experience with risk adjustment methodologies and HCC coding preferred
