Job Summary

As a Part-time Remote Medical Transcriptionist, you’ll play a critical role in providing high-quality transcription services to the Chickasaw Medical Center. You’ll be responsible for transcribing highly specialized medical dictation covering a wide range of medical specialties, meeting established medical, legal, accreditation, and organization requirements.

Key Responsibilities
• Apply knowledge of highly specialized medical and scientific terminology to transcribe medical dictation
• Transcribe a wide range of medical reports, including narrative summaries, diagnoses and procedures, surgical reports, medical evaluation boards, tissue reports, radiology reports, autopsy reports, and other reports necessary for patient records or treatment
• Identify and correct inconsistencies in dictated materials using knowledge of practical anatomy, medical techniques, major disease processes, and medical procedures
• Organize patient records and extract medical information and data as needed
• Take responsibility for own self-development by being available and receptive to training and development opportunities
• Plan daily activities to maximize personal output and meet productivity standards
• Maintain a neat and orderly work area to ensure safety and efficiency

Requirements: Education, Experience, and Skills

Education and Experience

To be considered for this role, you’ll need a High School Diploma or General Educational Degree (GED) equivalency and at least two (2) years of experience transcribing medical records. Experience performing history and physicals, discharge summaries, consultations, progress notes, and clinic notes is preferred. Additionally, experience in editing Voice Recognition/Speech Recognition technology is highly valued, and experience on the SpeechMotion platform is a plus.

Certifications and Licenses

A Certified Medical Transcriptionist certification from a state-accredited program is preferred.

Job-Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge and application of HIPAA regulations
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease processes, signs and symptoms, medications, and laboratory values
• Familiarity with medical transcription guidelines and practices, including the AHDI Book of Style
• Proven skills in English usage, grammar, punctuation, style, and editing
• Ability to use designated professional reference materials and operate word processing equipment, dictation and transcription equipment, and other specified equipment
• Excellent eye, hand, and auditory coordination, as well as excellent listening skills
• Ability to concentrate and work under pressure with time constraints
• Understanding and application of relevant legal concepts, such as confidentiality
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently

Compensation

The hourly rate for this position is $17.20.
